Maximum Stitch Width
While both machines have a minimum stitch width of 4mm, their maximum width differs. On one hand, the Sewist 500 has a maximum stitch width of 7mm. On the other, the Janome HD3000 has a max width of 6.5 mm.
Feed Dogs
The Sewist 500 has 4 feed dogs while the HD3000 has 5. Note that the higher the number of feed dogs, the more control you have with your fabric, thus giving you a more precise sewing.
Bobbin Winding
Janome calls the bobbin winding mechanism of the Sewist 500 “push-pull,” and the HD3000 “auto declutch.” What does this mean? Push-pull means that you need to manually disengage the clutch by pulling out the handwheel. Auto declutch means that the needle is automatically stopped from going up or down when you’re winding the bobbin thread.
